AJR'S REACTION TO THE PROJECT
Unboxing the pieces: The WMYAF Puzzle
The “Whatever Makes You A Fan” (WMYAF) project was a two-part unique and collaborative journey that culminated in a one-of-a-kind experience. Piece by piece, fans from around the world contributed to this intricate puzzle, delivering it to AJR at various stops of their Maybe Man Tour. From the unexpected hiding places – like a Bluey DVD case, inside a jacket pocket, and through a BeReal – to the excitement of Masterclass handoffs, each puzzle piece carried with it a wave of creativity and anticipation.
Together, fans delivered 50 extraordinary pieces, forming a complete picture of an AJR concert from the band’s onstage perspective. The final three pieces held a special surprise: a link to this very website, where the puzzle’s full impact is revealed.
Step one: Find puzzle piece deliverers at each show. We got 47 deliverers!
Step two: Mail out the pieces. We had to choose the pieces to send in a strategic order.
Step 3: Give the pieces to AJR. AJR’s reactions were amazing! From “What is this??” to “Oh, I bet I know what it is now ;)”
Step four: Keep the secret from AJR. They only thought it was a puzzle, and had no idea it led to another gift!
Step five: Deliver the final three pieces with the link to the website on it!
Some shows they were given multiple pieces, others they were only given one. Adam and Morgan (our Puzzle Protector!) would make guesses on who the puzzle deliverer would be for that show!
An Interactive Experience
Through the link on the puzzle, it brings you to this website which has hundreds of messages from fans around the world telling AJR what makes them a fan, how AJR has impacted their lives, and who AJR is to them.
This project could not have happened without our 47 puzzle deliverers and 250+ fans who submitted messages to AJR. Thank you to everyone who participated in this, I’m so happy to hear so many of you have made friends and memories because of AJR.
Here’s to the next project! You all are so special. We couldn’t have done it without you! This project is a testament to the power of community and collaboration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the incredible puzzle participants who brought this vision to life. Your enthusiasm and dedication were instrumental in creating something truly special.
